LASSEN COUNTY, CA - A Unit member brought forward an issue with working out of classification. Working out of classification occurs when you are asked to do the work of a higher classification. In Lassen County that responsibility comes with a 5% salary increase for all time worked in the higher classification. Unfortunately, our member had the responsibility but was not being compensated. Working through the grievance procedure UPEC eventually took the grievance to the Lassen County Administrative Officer. UPEC was able to settle the grievance for this member, a settlement that resulted in the member’s promotion and significant retro pay for the period of time spent working out of classification.
