Glenn Superior Court Members Approve Contract Extension
Posted On: Jun 25, 2016
As the close of fiscal year 2015-2016 approached, Glenn Superior Court CEO Kevin Harrigan contacted the Union to see if our Union members at the Court would be interested in opening the MOU early to discuss an extension. Motivation for the request was the Judicial Council's direction to local courts to return any unused funds in excess of 1% of revenue at the close of the fiscal year (6-30-16). If a Court doesn't expend its funds in excess of the 1% target, those funds would be taken back to be redistributed as part of the next year's revenue.
After several discussions and full member involvement, an agreement was reached to extend the labor contract 14 months, through 10-31-17, to increase the Courts medical contribution 10%, to increase "opt out" for those not taking medical insurance from $125 per month to $250 per month and to pay each employee a $1,500 stipend by separate check.
The Union dealt with Mr. Harrigan when he was CEO at Colusa Court and we are happy to deal with him at the Glenn Court as his credibility on the Court's finances is what paved the way to an agreement. Where there is trust and communication it is much easier to reach agreements!
